Recently Mack and Sons finished a beautiful new pole barn for a local couple. This structure is going to be used for the home owner’s car collection. The front overhang will have multiple purposes including: storage for trailers and a sitting area, as well as a covered area for parties and family gatherings.

This structure is a massive 2,600 square feet and has a 12-foot clearance from floor to ceiling. The framing showcases modern pole construction with treated 6×6 posts, treated tongue and groove skirting, 2×4 wall purlins and engineered trusses. The exterior is a low maintenance steel that has been screwed to the framing. The building features several man doors and a huge 12’ tall by 16’ wide sliding door. The 6’’ thick concrete will ensure decades of use with its steel reinforcing and properly prepared stone base.

Call us today to find out how we can build you a barn, garage, addition or other structure.

Mass media has duped the public into believing vinyl is the only reasonable choice for replacement windows.

REPLACEMENT WINDOWS DO NOT HAVE TO BE VINYL!

Mass media has duped the public into believing vinyl is the only reasonable choice for replacement windows. The truth is that replacement windows can be as customizable as the originals.

Andersen and Pella both offer replacements in real wood windows. Known for their quality construction and warranties, these windows can increase the efficiency of your home while keeping the look and feel of the original home. Vinyl and aluminum cladding make the exterior of the house virtually maintenance free, while the interior can be made of different wood species and even stained or painted to match existing detail.

NEW AND REPLACEMENT WINDOW SELECTIONS

Some excellent choices in windows are: Andersen, Pella, Simonton, Proview, PGT Eze-breeze and more. Mack and Sons is particularly proud to be your local Pella Certified Contractor. As such, we can offer preferred Pella pricing, get instant access to up-to-date product information, and expedite handling and warranty issues.

There is universal agreement that one of the best investments to help owners retain value in their building and reduce energy costs is installation of energy-efficient windows. Contact us, and we will come to your home and discuss the benefits of fiberglass, composites, real wood or synthetic wood looks, in addition to vinyl in your choice of shades. The sky is the limit. Mack and Sons has experience deleting, changing, and moving window and door openings without compromising the stability of your framework.

Beyond choosing the size and shape of your window, you may choose grades of insulation value (R-factor), encased or external grilles, tinted glass and more. Our millwork specialists can also accentuate your window with unique overlays (similar to those typically seen on fine cabinet doors with glass inserts).

There truly are few limits to what can be done to get the efficiency, light, protection, flexibility and appearance you want for any space in your home.

Additional window accents you might consider for your home are awnings, shutters, and window-boxes. We’d like to share some of these options when we quote your free window bid.

Proper installation of your new windows is a must. Mack and Son’s installation team is trained to make sure that your windows are installed properly so that they perform efficiently and easily for years. Our installation process uses the highest quality insulations, flashings and draft protection available today. We provide you with multiple choices, make recommendations based on your preferences and follow through with professional service. We will answer your questions, respect your property, and leave the area as neat as we found it. And, we warranty our installation through the life of product. Call or email us for more information.

The remodeling of older homes is shaping up to be the next big trend in green building. Dr. David Crowe, Chief Economist of the National Association of Home Builders, predicts U.S. home remodeling expenditures will increase by at least 20 percent by the end of 2011.

Crowe says, "Due to the housing market, homeowners will choose to stay in their homes and invest in updates rather than upgrade by moving."

That trend apparently is fueling another development in the remodeling industry -- the increasing number of products being targeted to the do-it-yourselfer, says Dan Kahn of Floors To Your Home. "With products, such as flooring, becoming more technologically advanced and accessible to the homeowner, remodeling is easier and more cost effective," he says.
Learn More...

INDIANAPOLIS, IN, Sep 19, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) — The remodeling of older homes is shaping up to be the next big trend in green building. Dr. David Crowe, Chief Economist of the National Association of Home Builders, predicts U.S. home remodeling expenditures will increase by at least 20 percent by the end of 2011.

That trend apparently is fueling another development in the remodeling industry — the increasing number of products being targeted to the do-it-yourselfer, says Dan Kahn of Floors To Your Home. “With products, such as flooring, becoming more technologically advanced and accessible to the homeowner, remodeling is easier and more cost effective,” he says.

For example, one of the products that has been a top seller at Floors to Your Home is Click Together hardwood flooring. The high-quality flooring is durable, but does not require glue or nails like some other products and is designed for simple installation, Kahn points out. A homeowner with moderate DIY skills could install it as a weekend project.

“Due to the economy, homeowners are choosing to add on to their existing homes and manufacturers are helping them with these products that are much easier to install than they were in the past,” Kahn says. “Manufacturers are creating products specifically with the do-it-yourselfer in mind.”

He also said that remodeling is popular because “small updates to the home can dramatically change the look and feel of a home, while boosting its value. For example, laminate flooring can make a home look more modern — at a much cheaper rate than a major renovation.”

Real estate statistics also show that houses with hardwood flooring — real or look alike — often get a higher price than those with carpet. In an effort to make the house more “sellable,” homeowners are opting to make those smaller renovations before selling.

Studies show that in the next five years, the focus of remodeling spending will shift from upper-end discretionary projects to replacements and systems upgrades. Dan Kahn with Floors To Your Home says, “Homeowners should look to do-it-yourself projects, such as laying a floating floor that can go above their existing floor. This way they can still refinish their home, but do it in such a way that it will be cost effective.”
